Senior PeopleSoft Developer/Analyst II

Overview

We are representing a confidential higher education institution seeking a Senior PeopleSoft Developer/Analyst II to serve as a technical expert for their PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) application. This role combines deep technical development expertise with business analysis, focusing on customizations, reports, interfaces, and bolt-on solutions that support critical HR, Payroll, Benefits, and related functions.

In this position, you'll build and maintain interactive applications within the ERP landscape, focusing on design, development, integration, testing, and deployment. You'll collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure scalable, high-performance solutions that meet evolving business needs. Key responsibilities include requirement analysis, coding, debugging, documentation, and continuous improvement of development processes.

Responsibilities

Business/System Analysis and Development:

• Analyze customer requests and needs, building conceptual models and recommending appropriate technical solutions
• Develop solutions within the PeopleSoft environment that meet business requirements in collaboration with stakeholders
• Design and develop interfaces between new and existing systems, both internal and external
• Translate functional requirements into technical specifications and architecture
• Develop deep understanding of business processes across HR, Finance, and academic administration
• Build trusting professional relationships with business partners

Support and Maintenance:

• Troubleshoot operational application issues and implement solutions
• Follow established change management processes for production migrations
• Apply delivered PeopleSoft Upgrade Manager (PUM) images
• Provide technical support for Human Resources, academic affairs, and Finance departments

Leadership and Innovation:

• Research new functionality and technologies to enhance business processes
• Collaborate with ERP colleagues on implementation of new technologies, including training and knowledge transfer
• Maintain learning mindset toward new ERP platforms and AI-driven efficiency opportunities

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a PeopleSoft developer/analyst with direct programming and business analysis experience
• Minimum 5 years supporting PeopleSoft HCM modules: HR, Payroll, Benefits, Absence Management, Time & Labor, and Self Service
• In-depth knowledge of PeopleSoft architecture
• Expert-level experience with PeopleTools: Application Designer, Application Engine, PeopleCode, and Application Packages
• In-depth knowledge of SQR and SQL
• Expert debugging and tracing skills for PeopleSoft sessions
• Working knowledge of HTML5, CSS, XML, and JavaScript
• Understanding of security principles and best practices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to multi-task across projects while managing competing priorities and deadlines
• Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences
• Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Adaptability to change and commitment to learning new technologies
• Experience with Agile and Waterfall project methodologies
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Higher education sector experience
• Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Fluid, Work Centers, and Activity Guides
• Experience with web service technologies: Integration Broker, REST, and SOAP
• Knowledge of scheduling software (PeopleSoft Process Scheduler, IWS)
• Working knowledge of AWE
• Familiarity with other ERP solutions such as Workday or Oracle
• Experience with change management processes and tools like ServiceNow
• COBOL familiarity

Pay

The position offers standard weekly hours of 36.25 and is benefits-eligible with a 180-day probationary period. Specific compensation details will be discussed during the interview process based on your experience and qualifications.
