About This Position

The Kitchen Porter role is fundamental to our kitchen operations at The Cafe at the Palace. You'll work alongside our culinary team to maintain the high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and food safety that our guests expect. Based within the Palace of Holyrood House, you'll experience working in a unique environment whilst supporting a professional kitchen team dedicated to delivering quality service.

Core Duties

• Wash, clean, and maintain all kitchen equipment, utensils, and crockery to food hygiene standards
• Keep work areas, storage facilities, and kitchen spaces clean and organised throughout service
• Assist with food preparation and basic kitchen tasks as directed
• Manage waste disposal and recycling in line with health and safety regulations
• Monitor and maintain stock levels of cleaning and kitchen supplies
• Support kitchen staff by ensuring all necessary equipment is available and ready
• Comply with food safety and health regulations at all times

• Reliability and strong work ethic with commitment to punctuality
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Good communication skills and willingness to follow instructions
• Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety practices
• Physical capability to lift, carry, and stand for extended periods
• Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities
• No previous experience required; training will be provided
