Junior Data Scientist – Sales & Marketing

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech client seeking a Junior Data Scientist to join their Sales & Marketing function in London. This is a hybrid role where you'll design experiments and build statistical models that directly influence customer acquisition strategy. You'll work closely with an experienced data scientist mentor while contributing to a wider community of analytics professionals.

Responsibilities

• Design and evaluate experiments to provide evidence-based insights for sales and marketing investment decisions
• Build statistical models that solve business problems across the acquisition funnel, with guidance on approach and solution design
• Analyze experimental results to distinguish signal from noise and inform channel optimization
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, sales, product, and engineering
• Participate in the broader data science community to align on methodology and develop technical expertise
• Move quickly from problem framing to actionable recommendations, iterating based on new evidence
• Communicate technical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders

What We're Looking For

Essential qualifications:

• Degree (or recent/final-year Master's) in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or similar quantitative field with strong foundations in probability and statistics
• Research mindset with curiosity about new methods and willingness to experiment
• Strong analytical judgment—ability to critically evaluate model output and defend reasoning with evidence
• Ownership mentality: comfortable taking workstreams from initial framing through to landed decisions
• AI fluency: actively use AI tools for prototyping and automation with good judgment on appropriate applications
• Clear, direct communication skills with ability to adapt technical detail for diverse audiences

Valuable bonus experience:

• Marketing, sales, or customer acquisition analytics
• Causal inference and experimentation (A/B tests, quasi-experiments, lift studies)
• Marketing mix or attribution modeling
• Bayesian methods (hierarchical models, MCMC, Bayesian updating)
• Production machine learning (end-to-end model deployment and monitoring)
• Python programming

Pay

Our client expects to pay £40,000 to £60,000 for this role and conducts quarterly salary reviews. Please include your salary expectations when applying.
