About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential SaaS organization seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their Analytics & Data Platform team in London. This is an opportunity to work on real-time analytics infrastructure serving thousands of global customers, building systems that unlock data value through streaming platforms and low-latency solutions.
You'll be instrumental in designing and delivering near real-time data solutions, working with modern streaming technologies and cloud infrastructure to power analytics, monitoring, and reporting capabilities at scale.
Responsibilities
- Lead requirements analysis, solution design, and end-to-end delivery of streaming platform modules for near real-time data solutions
- Analyze and translate business needs into optimized data models for big data environments
- Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize queries for improved efficiency
- Write clean, scalable code using Scala, Python, and SQL; test and deploy applications
- Solve complex data problems in near real-time using optimal architectures, frameworks, and query techniques across structured and unstructured sources
- Deliver high-quality, secure, and scalable solutions as part of the engineering organization
- Participate in product and platform performance optimization and live site monitoring
- Mentor team members through actionable feedback and knowledge sharing
Technology environment: AWS (Kinesis, Kafka, S3, DMS, Glue, EMR, EKS, Redshift, Spectrum), Apache Pinot, Apache Flink, Airflow, GitLab-based continuous deployment
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science or mathematics
- 3+ years of experience with near real-time analytics
- 5+ years of experience with modern programming languages such as Scala, Python, Go, or TypeScript
- Proven experience designing complex data processing pipelines
- Strong background in data modeling (star schema, dimensional modeling) in AWS Redshift
- Demonstrated expertise in query optimization
- Experience with Kafka is a plus
- Track record of shipping and maintaining production code
- Collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills and openness to sharing ideas
