IT Implementation Engineer

Join AMSURG, LLC as an IT Implementation Engineer and lead critical infrastructure transitions across our network of ambulatory surgery centers throughout the United States. In this hands-on technical role, you'll architect cloud solutions, manage complex IT migrations, and establish lasting partnerships with center leadership to modernize healthcare operations.

Position Summary

As an IT Implementation Engineer at AMSURG, you'll spearhead the transition of IT operations from legacy on-premises systems to AMSURG's managed cloud services platform. Working directly with Center Leadership and the IT Services team, you'll conduct comprehensive IT assessments, design Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 solutions tailored to each center's needs, and oversee the entire migration lifecycle. Your role combines strategic planning with hands-on technical execution—discovering current infrastructure, documenting system dependencies, designing secure cloud architectures, and ensuring seamless knowledge transfer to the operational support team.

Your Responsibilities

• Partner with center operations and IT leadership to assess current infrastructure, security posture, and IT contracts
• Perform on-site evaluations of center IT environments, including networks, servers, and line-of-business applications
• Design and architect Microsoft 365 and Azure solutions—including virtual networks, virtual machines, and network gateways—tailored to center requirements
• Create comprehensive technical documentation of existing systems, configurations, and interdependencies
• Develop and execute IT service transition plans with communication strategies and timelines
• Evaluate IT equipment against company standards and recommend upgrades or replacements
• Assess and document network infrastructure, VPN connectivity, VLANs, and vendor systems
• Monitor Azure subscriptions to maintain cost efficiency and budget compliance
• Collaborate with incumbent IT providers to gather migration data and ensure continuity
• Communicate AMSURG IT Services value propositions and capabilities to stakeholders

Who We're Looking For

You hold a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience). You bring seven or more years of IT experience in enterprise environments, with five-plus years specifically managing Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 architectures. You have hands-on expertise in server management, hypervisor platforms (VMware ESXi and/or Microsoft Hyper-V), and network infrastructure design. Project management experience and knowledge of risk assessment and application architecture are essential. Healthcare industry experience is valued. You communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences, manage competing priorities effectively, and maintain strict confidentiality.
