Head of FP&A

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech client in the energy sector that is scaling rapidly following significant venture backing. They need a Head of FP&A to own financial planning, forecasting, and performance tracking across the business.

This is a strategic finance role focused on building and maintaining the financial model that leadership and the board depend on. You'll own monthly performance cycles, cash runway forecasting, and forward-looking KPIs while partnering closely with senior finance leadership.

This role is remote-first and based in the United Kingdom.

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of the financial model—structure, assumptions, and ongoing maintenance—ensuring outputs are trusted across the organisation
• Deliver monthly performance vs plan cycles for all business units on time, including independent variance analysis built from actuals
• Own the monthly cash runway forecast and maintain forward-looking KPIs that guide executive decisions
• Translate financial variance into actionable insights for leadership
• Lead quarterly and annual planning processes on behalf of Finance
• Codify planning logic into agent-assisted and AI-enabled workflows to scale the function efficiently
• Support board reporting and investor conversations as the business continues to scale

What We're Looking For

Must-Have Skills and Experience:

• Proven FP&A experience owning a financial model and monthly performance vs plan cycle in a previous role
• Background in a complex business environment such as fintech, energy, commodities, oil & gas, or any business with trading elements
• Strong understanding of financial markets
• Independent operator who builds analysis from raw actuals rather than waiting for pre-packaged reports
• Excellent data analysis skills with experience working through messy data and complex performance drivers
• Comfortable building AI and agent-assisted workflows into planning processes

Desirable:

• Energy sector experience
• Scale-up or VC-backed company experience
• Experience supporting board-level reporting and investor relations

Pay

This role offers a competitive package. Our client has indicated a salary band up to £120,000 for this position, plus stock options, 25 days holiday plus public holidays, remote setup allowance, and monthly wellbeing allowance.
