About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing technology company in the industrial procurement space, based in Munich. Our client is in an exciting early scaling phase and needs a strategic finance leader to build the foundation for sustainable growth. This is a rare opportunity to join at a stage where you can truly shape the finance function from the ground up.

As Head of Finance, you'll take on both operational and strategic financial responsibility. Your focus will be building scalable finance infrastructure, implementing professional reporting processes, and creating robust budgets and forecasts. This role requires a hands-on approach with strategic thinking—you'll lay the groundwork that enables future growth.

Responsibilities

Reporting & Controlling

• Build professional, transparent reporting for management and investors
• Establish a controlling system with relevant SaaS KPIs (CAC, LTV, Churn, ARR, MRR, Unit Economics)
• Monitor business development, identify opportunities early, and provide actionable recommendations including revenue engine optimization (sales targets, quotas, commission models)
• Analyze customer relationships and margin profiles, supporting contract processes

Budgeting, Planning & Forecasting

• Create detailed budgets and business plans that reflect growth objectives
• Own rolling forecasts and ensure solid liquidity planning
• Develop planning scenarios that support strategic decision-making
• Actively monitor and control budget compliance

Finance Infrastructure & Processes

• Build and optimize scalable business processes that translate seamlessly into future-proof finance operations
• Implement and optimize finance tools and systems
• Ensure clean, efficient accounting integration without friction
• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual closings according to HGB standards in close collaboration with tax advisors

Stakeholder Management & Strategic Partnership

• Communicate at eye level with investors, auditors, and tax advisors
• Support management on strategic finance questions as a trusted sparring partner
• Actively prepare the organization for future financing rounds or exit processes

Team & Leadership

• Build and lead a finance team over time
• Work closely with other departments and contribute to establishing a data-driven company culture

What We're Looking For

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Completed degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or Controlling
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience with initial leadership experience in finance—ideally in tech, SaaS, or scale-up environments
• Demonstrated track record of building reporting systems and finance processes from the ground up
• Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Proficiency with relevant tools—from Excel/Google Sheets to Power BI and accounting software
• Hands-on mentality; willing to roll up your sleeves and tackle operational work
• Analytical thinker who can translate numbers into understandable, decision-relevant insights
• German language proficiency required for this Munich-based position

• Legal expertise in corporate governance, company law, and contract law
