In this full-time role, you'll drive financial operations and cost optimization for the infrastructure that powers our AI research.
What This Role Involves
You'll manage the profit-and-loss statement for Anthropic's datacenter partnerships with infrastructure providers. Working as a key financial partner to our infrastructure teams, you'll ensure projects remain on budget, identify and execute cost reduction opportunities, and minimize financial exposure. Your forecasts will inform board-level decisions, and you'll be the central finance contact for all partnership discussions.
Core Duties
- Direct financial planning and analysis across all live datacenter operating costs including lease payments, power consumption, hardware operations, facility oversight, physical security, warehouse operations, and provider fees
- Establish and maintain site-by-site cost forecasts, updated regularly to support monthly strategic reviews and board presentations
- Execute budget-to-actual reviews on datacenter developer spending and site development budgets, tracking committed expenditures
- Maintain the annual power spend model, including both pass-through and owned power costs
- Reconcile provider invoices with financial forecasts and establish the finance rhythm with operating partners
- Collaborate with Accounting on contract operationalization, lease accounting treatment, and period-end close procedures
- Assess financial implications of site optimization projects and operational structure changes
- Coordinate with the Infrastructure Expansion function during transition phases to ensure spending plans translate from agreement to implementation
What We're Looking For
- Background in strategic finance, project-level infrastructure finance, financial planning and analysis, private equity investment, business strategy consulting, or investment banking—preferably with experience in datacenters, power generation, commercial real estate, telecommunications, or managed service operations
- Demonstrated success managing infrastructure cost centers and implementing programs to reduce spending
- Strong quantitative abilities with capacity to convert raw data into clear insights and construct sophisticated financial models
- Ability to engage confidently as the financial expert when interacting with external partners and vendor teams
- High-execution orientation with strong work commitment and demonstrated success meeting ambitious deadlines
- Strong interpersonal style, sound business perspective, and clear communication
- Alignment with Anthropic's vision of creating safe, interpretable, controllable AI systems
- Preferred: 7+ years in strategic finance, project finance, financial analysis, private equity, consulting, or investment banking; experience with datacenter operations or power purchasing economics; background managing financial workflows with external service providers; AI, machine learning, or large-scale computing experience; proficiency in SQL, Python, or advanced Excel; MBA or equivalent advanced degree in finance, business, or economics
