Engineering Specialist – Fully Remote | Upto $90/hr

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology organization seeking a Materials & Engineering Specialist for a fully remote contract role. Our client is building innovative AI research capabilities and needs senior-level domain expertise to help shape their evaluation frameworks.

This is a contract position open to candidates based in Japan, working fully remote. You'll have the autonomy to design authentic assessment tasks while collaborating with a distributed team of domain experts.

Responsibilities

• Author domain-authentic tasks drawing from your materials science or engineering experience
• Build comprehensive data rooms and establish grading criteria for objectively scorable tasks
• Run tasks against models, analyze performance metrics, and iterate to ensure meaningful differentiation
• Collaborate with project leads and fellow domain experts to define quality benchmarks in your specialty area
• Work independently while helping shape evolving project structures and methodologies

What We're Looking For

• Senior-level expertise in materials science or engineering domains
• Comfort working with ambiguity and contributing to evolving frameworks
• Strong ability to articulate reasoning for both correct and incorrect technical answers
• Self-direction and initiative in a remote, asynchronous environment
• Experience creating technical assessments or evaluation criteria is a plus
