Engineering Manager (m/f/d) – Power-to-X & E-Fuels Plant Engineering

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential cleantech organization in Karlsruhe that is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead technical delivery of complex Power-to-X and e-fuels projects. In this role, you will serve as the central technical interface for planning, execution, and operational realization of chemical process plants within an EPC/EPCM framework.

Your core responsibilities include:

• Providing overall technical responsibility for EPC plants and coordinating engineering activities across all disciplines
• Leading the internal engineering team and managing interfaces with Operations, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Project Management functions
• Managing external engineering partners, EPC contractors, and specialist planners, including tendering, contract performance management, and claims management
• Coordinating and approving process engineering fundamentals such as PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balances, control concepts, and safety documentation
• Overseeing change management processes and assessing technical, schedule, and commercial impacts of modifications
• Reviewing and approving technical calculations, supplier documentation, and manufacturing/installation specifications
• Providing technical support for permitting and regulatory engineering, coordinating with authorities, inspection bodies, and external experts

What We're Looking For

Our client requires a seasoned engineering leader with deep expertise in chemical process plant construction:

• University degree in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Plant Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or comparable qualification
• Several years of professional experience as a Lead Engineer or Engineering Manager in plant construction and process engineering, ideally within the chemical or petrochemical industry
• Proven experience technically leading engineering teams within EPC/EPCM project environments
• Independent, proactive, and responsible working style with strong ownership mentality
• Excellent assertiveness combined with a solution-oriented approach to problem-solving
• Very good written and spoken German and English language skills
