Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential e-commerce platform organization seeking an Engineering Manager with strong Java expertise in Bordeaux. In this role, you will:
- Drive technical excellence by taking ownership of user stories, conducting code reviews, and actively contributing to design, development, testing, and production deployments
- Coordinate cross-functional delivery by developing roadmaps with R&D teams, aligning priorities with other tech leads, and partnering with product and design teams to deliver on commitments with high velocity and quality
- Lead and grow a team of 4-5 developers through regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and fostering team cohesion across distributed locations
- Develop talent and best practices by ensuring successful onboarding, identifying and nurturing team talent, contributing to recruitment, and establishing best practices in clean code, testing, and pair programming
- Remove blockers and enable team success by stepping in to resolve technical challenges, making arbitration decisions, and ensuring the team delivers on its commitments
- Participate in the adoption of AI within products and internal practices
What We're Looking For
Required Experience:
- At least 5 years of Java development experience with recent versions
- Minimum 2 years in a team lead or similar management role, with proven experience mentoring developers
- Demonstrated ability to balance hands-on technical contribution with people management responsibilities
- Track record of delivering complex projects in a microservices environment
- Professional proficiency in English
Technical Skills:
- Strong Java development and architecture expertise
- Experience with Spring Framework
- SQL database knowledge
- Cloud platforms experience
- Microservices architecture
- Team leadership and mentoring capabilities
- Technical decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Cross-functional collaboration experience
- Strong commitment to clean code and engineering best practices
Location: This position is based in Bordeaux with one day of remote work per week.
