Design Director (AI & Tech)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential marketing technology agency in their search for a Design Director to lead creative work for a major AI platform client. This is a remote role that combines hands-on creative leadership with team management, overseeing design excellence across varied campaigns—from rapid-response creative to global productions and in-person creative sprints.

As Design Director, you'll review and approve work, maintain brand standards, and ensure creative excellence while leading a team of designers, producers, and other creatives. You'll provide decisive feedback and inspiration while remaining hands-on, building team capability and driving innovation across motion and static deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and inspire design teams of 10+ while encouraging cross-functional collaboration
• Deliver innovative, high-quality work across all team deliverables
• Develop strong creative ideas rooted in narrative, pacing, composition, and visual structure
• Guide execution across motion and static formats to maintain creative intent
• Work with leadership to build processes, structures, and raise design quality standards
• Maintain brand consistency throughout marketing projects across multiple global markets
• Generate creative ideas and campaign look and feel
• Present work internally and to clients with confidence
• Explore and execute across various formats and platforms for global campaigns
• Build productive relationships with other disciplines to deliver projects successfully
• Work with resource and operations teams to ensure projects are set up for success
• Create and review scopes and timing plans
• Stay current with design trends, culture, and industry developments

What We're Looking For

• Experience growing, inspiring, and leading a team of 10+ designers
• Strong experience leading on client accounts with a consultative approach, ideally in tech or AI
• Demonstrated ability to work with management on operational setup for client teams
• Strong visual judgment and confidence contributing to concepts and creative direction
• High attention to detail, especially in large-scale asset production and sign-off
• Experience creating and reviewing scopes and timing plans
• Curiosity around AI tools and interest in how they can support creative work
• Strong portfolio or showreel demonstrating concept, craft, and high-quality motion and design work, with examples of tech or AI-led campaigns
• Experience working with resource/operations to ensure project success
• Ability to stay current with and respond to design trends and cultural shifts
