About the Role

We are representing a confidential e-commerce fulfillment organization in Berlin, and we're seeking a Process Engineer to lead end-to-end improvement initiatives across their warehouse network. In this role, you'll identify opportunities where automation or process redesign can meaningfully enhance cost, throughput, quality, or safety—then own the complete solution from concept through live implementation.

Your projects will span both hardware (robotics, automated material handling, conveyor and packing systems) and software (control logic and orchestration optimization), selecting the best combination to solve each operational challenge. You'll work on the warehouse floor, analyze performance data, and partner with operations teams to deliver measurable improvements that scale across the fulfillment network.

Responsibilities

  • Identify improvement opportunities across the fulfillment network by working directly with operations teams, reviewing data, and observing floor-level processes
  • Own the business case for each initiative: quantify throughput gains and labor impact, calculate payback periods, prepare capex/opex estimates, and present investment proposals to senior stakeholders
  • Lead full-lifecycle implementation from design through testing, installation, integration, and piloting—coordinating internal teams, vendors, and contractors to deliver working solutions on-site
  • Partner with Procurement and Operations throughout the project lifecycle, from requirements gathering and RFI/RFQ processes through vendor evaluation, commercial negotiation, and final handover with documentation and training
  • Standardize delivered solutions into reusable templates, playbooks, and best practices that accelerate future projects
  • Translate process and performance data into prioritized improvement recommendations for site and regional leadership
  • Contribute insights from completed projects to inform the broader automation roadmap and warehouse planning concepts

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Degree in engineering or a technical/analytical field (mechanical, mechatronics, industrial engineering, logistics), or equivalent completed vocational training with relevant hands-on experience
  • 3+ years of experience in warehouse automation (robotics, AMRs, AutoStore, sorters, conveyors, packing systems) and process improvement, with demonstrated end-to-end project ownership from concept to handover
  • Strong analytical skills for both spreadsheet business modeling and floor-level process evaluation
  • Proven project management ability to align Operations, Engineering, Finance, and external vendors toward successful delivery
  • Strong negotiation and engagement skills with third-party vendors and contractors
  • Broad interest in both hardware and software aspects of automation solutions
  • Professional working proficiency in English (written and spoken)
  • Willingness to spend regular time on-site at fulfillment centers

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with control logic, orchestration software, or WMS integration
  • Working knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies
