Cloud & Data Engineering Intern / Working Student (m/f/d) – Full-Stack Data Platforms & AI Automation

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential climate-tech organization based in Oberhaching, south of Munich. Our client is developing advanced solutions to address persistent environmental contaminants, and they need a talented Cloud & Data Engineering Intern or Working Student to build the digital infrastructure supporting their R&D operations.

This is a 100% on-site position where you'll work at the intersection of cloud platforms, full-stack development, scientific data systems, and AI automation. You'll transform experimental workflows into scalable, production-grade infrastructure that directly enables breakthrough environmental technology.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and optimize cloud infrastructure using GCP and Firebase, focusing on reliability, scalability, and security
• Expand and enhance TypeScript/JavaScript-based laboratory data platforms to improve user experience for technical teams
• Build robust data pipelines connecting experimental equipment, databases, analysis tools, and visualization dashboards
• Translate scientific Python analysis code into scalable, web-accessible workflows
• Identify and implement LLM and AI integrations for data synthesis, automated reporting, and intelligence gathering
• Develop clear dashboards that transform complex technical data into actionable insights
• Improve existing codebase, system architecture, and technical documentation to establish sustainable engineering standards
• Collaborate directly with R&D and engineering teams to identify digitalization and automation opportunities

What We're Looking For

• Currently enrolled in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical degree program
• Strong foundation in TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, and SQL
• Experience or strong interest in cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS; Firebase experience is a plus
• Hands-on, resourceful approach—you enjoy understanding existing systems and finding pragmatic solutions
• Interest in LLMs, AI coding tools, and workflow automation with curiosity to identify novel applications
• Understanding of clean code principles, software architecture, and high-quality technical documentation
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects from conception to deployment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Motivation to apply technical skills toward meaningful environmental challenges
