Client Service Director-Public Sector (w/m/d)

About This Role

We are representing a leading communications and digital strategy consultancy in the German market. Our client is seeking a Client Service Director to take full strategic, commercial, and client-facing responsibility for a major public sector mandate in the Dresden region.

This is not a project management role—it's about owning a large, long-term client relationship at the intersection of consulting, account development, and digital delivery. You'll be supported by an experienced team across project management, UX/UI, technology, and operations, while maintaining strategic oversight of the entire mandate.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain long-term relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders in the public sector
• Develop deep understanding of client goals, roadmaps, and challenges; proactively propose solutions rather than waiting for requests
• Identify and develop new consulting opportunities (platform evolution, UX, technology, editorial processes, AI applications)
• Own revenue, contribution margin, and forecasting for the account
• Provide high-level oversight of major projects, supporting project managers at key milestones and escalations
• Align the core client team and integrate appropriate specialists as needed
• Recognize synergies to ensure successful solutions create value across other areas
• Maintain strategic perspective on the overall mandate while project managers handle day-to-day execution

What We're Looking For

• Several years of experience in a digital agency, digital consulting, or comparable environment
• Experience working with public sector clients and understanding of government administration and public communications
• Proven track record advising demanding clients and working on large-scale website, CMS, or platform projects
• Commercial and entrepreneurial mindset with strong instinct for client needs
• Confidence managing diverse stakeholders and ability to align teams without direct line authority
• Solid technical understanding; TYPO3 knowledge advantageous but not required
• Fluent German language skills (this role requires regular on-site client presence in the Rheinland-Pfalz/Mainz region)
• Current residence or permanent professional base in the Rheinland-Pfalz/Mainz area

You don't need to have fully owned a comparable major account yet—this position is also suitable as a next step for experienced Senior Consultants, Account Managers, or Senior Project Managers seeking greater strategic and commercial responsibility.
