About This Position

As Assistant Director of Development, Leadership Giving, you will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gifts from individuals capable of making significant leadership-level commitments to Utaustin. Working in Austin, you'll manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, building meaningful relationships while advancing the university's philanthropic goals through strategic engagement and stewardship.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and engage prospects with major gift potential aligned with Utaustin's strategic priorities
  • Develop and maintain a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects, ensuring regular meaningful contact
  • Prepare and present compelling gift proposals, case statements, and solicitation materials
  • Collaborate with deans, faculty, and college development staff to identify funding opportunities and donor interests
  • Plan and execute donor recognition, cultivation events, and stewardship activities
  • Track donor interactions, gift activity, and campaign progress in the university's development system
  • Contribute to major gift strategies and annual fundraising campaign planning

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree; graduate degree in nonprofit management, fundraising, or related field preferred
  • Experience in major gifts fundraising or institutional advancement
  • Demonstrated success cultivating and securing significant philanthropic commitments
  • Strong written and oral communication and proposal development skills
  • Exceptional relationship-building and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficiency with donor databases and fundraising software systems
  • Strategic thinking and ability to align donor interests with institutional needs
  • Organized, detail-oriented approach to managing multiple donor relationships and priorities
