Android Mobile Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential travel technology organization seeking an Android Mobile Engineer to join their growing mobile development team. This is a remote-first role based in the UK, open to candidates within commutable distance of Oxford or London, with periodic in-person team gatherings.

Our client operates in a dynamic environment where engineers ship production code frequently, working collaboratively with product managers and designers throughout the entire development lifecycle. You'll be part of a team that values execution, continuous learning, and meaningful collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Android applications using modern technologies including Kotlin, Coroutines, and Jetpack Compose
• Write clean, efficient code following clean-architecture principles and MVVM patterns in a modular layout
• Collaborate closely with product and design teams to define feature specifications and deliver high-quality solutions
• Work across the stack, with primary focus on Android development and occasional back-end microservices projects
• Take ownership of all aspects of software engineering from design through implementation, QA, and maintenance
• Participate in a daily release cycle, shipping code to production every few days
• Coordinate with engineering teams located globally to deliver cohesive solutions
• Leverage AI tools to improve efficiency and code quality in your day-to-day work

What We're Looking For

• At least 3 years of commercial software development experience solving diverse technical problems
• Proven experience developing Android applications with native mobile technologies
• Experience with reactive programming in native mobile platforms
• Familiarity with GraphQL and modern Android development tools like Cursor
• Demonstrated ability to use AI tools effectively to enhance productivity and decision-making
• Strong ability to break down complex problems into simple, elegant solutions
• Willingness and ability to learn new technologies quickly
• Experience with mobile web and back-end technologies is beneficial but not required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong sense of ownership and pride in your work
• Proven ability to operate effectively in a global, distributed team environment
