Internal Audit Field Officer (Part-Time Contractor)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a leading international development organization in their search for a Part-Time Internal Audit Field Officer. Our client delivers direct assistance to vulnerable populations worldwide and is known for their evidence-based, dignified approach to poverty alleviation.

This remote position focuses on recipient safeguarding and advocacy, ensuring that beneficiaries receive proper support and protection throughout program delivery. You'll conduct surveys, investigate potential issues, and help maintain the highest standards of integrity in aid distribution.

This is a firewalled audit function, strictly separated from operations teams, requiring discretion and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Conduct remote recipient surveys (50% of role) via call center technology to identify challenges recipients face with program participation including fraud, theft, or access difficulties
• Utilize case management software (AidKit, Zendesk) to track incidents and document findings for operations teams
• Report discovered cases and provide regular briefs to the Internal Audit Manager
• Collaborate on survey design and refinement to tailor instruments for individual programs
• Track monthly survey responses and report on KPIs and specific metrics
• Identify adverse event trends from recipient feedback
• Collect and respond to complaints within established timeframes (40% of role)
• Escalate complex cases following established protocols
• Produce weekly reports on cases, observations, and outcomes
• Maintain real-time case notes and track resolution progress
• Support field operations planning, risk assessment, and community mobilization (10% of role)
• Research and investigate online impersonation attempts targeting program applicants

What We're Looking For

• Fluency in English plus Spanish and/or Arabic required; French or Portuguese a plus
• 2+ years working with vulnerable communities
• Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity when engaging with diverse populations
• Excellent active listening and investigative interview techniques
• Strong communication skills for discussing potentially sensitive topics with discretion
• Technological literacy with smartphones, tablets, or computers for data collection
• High emotional intelligence and empathy when working with people in challenging circumstances
• Critical thinking and sound judgment in resolving complex problems
• Highest standards of integrity and confidentiality

Work Requirements: Remote work in the USA. Less than 5% travel expected. Approximately 20-29 hours per week (hours may vary). Paid training provided. Equipment (smartphone, tablet, or computer) supplied for data collection.
