AI Product Engineer – Internal Tools & Automation (m/w/d) – fully remote

About This Role

We are representing a confidential e-commerce client in Düsseldorf seeking an AI Product Engineer to build internal tools and automations that dramatically accelerate marketing, creative, operations, and engineering workflows. This is a fully remote position where you'll work directly with a lean tech team to deploy AI-powered solutions that solve real business problems—not proof-of-concepts.

You'll be building on top of a proprietary platform, creating workflow automations for campaign generation, asset quality assurance, anomaly detection, and cross-system integrations. This role demands end-to-end ownership: you'll identify opportunities by talking directly to internal teams, scope solutions, ship production code, and iterate based on real usage.

Responsibilities

• Identify automation and AI opportunities across marketing, creative, operations, and engineering teams through direct collaboration
• Build AI-powered workflows for briefing generation, copy review, asset QA, and ad-performance reporting
• Develop quality-assurance and anomaly-detection tooling for internal platform systems
• Ship lightweight internal agents that automate repetitive tasks and free up human focus
• Own internal operations automation including reporting pipelines, approval flows, and data syncs across microservices
• Scope, prioritize, build, ship, and iterate with full ownership from concept to production

What We're Looking For

• Strong engineering background building production software—clean, pragmatic, and maintainable code
• Proficiency with PHP/Laravel and Python, Vue/React, MySQL, Docker, or ability to learn quickly
• Production experience running LLM systems including cost optimization, latency management, evals, edge-case handling, and monitoring
• Hands-on experience with Claude Code, Anthropic Agent SDK, or multi-step AI agents in production
• Ability to extend AI tooling via MCPs and custom integrations against real data sources
• Deep knowledge of LLM workflows: prompt engineering, tool use, structured outputs, RAG, and architectural judgment
• Entrepreneurial and product-driven mindset: comfortable talking to users, questioning requirements, cutting scope decisively, and distinguishing real business impact from AI gimmicks
• Desire for end-to-end ownership in a small, senior team environment
• German language skills preferred given location and team
