Supplier Quality Development Engineer (m/w/d) Welding & Mechanics

Wabtec seeks an accomplished Supplier Quality Development Engineer (m/w/d) specializing in welding and mechanical systems to join our team on a full-time, remote basis. This Leipzig-based engineering role focuses on elevating supplier performance, quality standards, and technical excellence across our manufacturing supply chain.

About This Position

As a Supplier Quality Development Engineer with expertise in welding and mechanics, you will drive continuous improvement initiatives within our supplier network while ensuring components meet our rigorous engineering and quality specifications. This remote role combines technical oversight, supplier collaboration, and process optimization to strengthen the reliability and performance of critical supply chain partners.

Your Responsibilities

• Evaluate and qualify welding processes, mechanical assemblies, and supplier capabilities against Wabtec engineering standards
• Conduct technical audits at supplier facilities, identifying opportunities for quality improvement and process optimization
• Develop and implement corrective action plans addressing quality issues, non-conformances, and performance gaps
• Collaborate with suppliers on design reviews, process development, and certification of new manufacturing methods
• Maintain technical documentation, traceability records, and quality metrics for supplier performance monitoring
• Support problem-solving initiatives and root-cause analysis for defects or production challenges

What We're Looking For

• Strong technical foundation in welding processes, mechanical engineering, and quality assurance principles
• Proven experience working with industrial suppliers or managing supplier quality programs
• Proficiency in quality management systems, engineering drawings, and testing methodologies
• Excellent communication skills in German and English, with ability to work effectively across multiple locations
• Self-directed approach to remote work with strong organizational and project management capabilities
• Willingness to travel occasionally to supplier sites for audits and technical support
