Central Sd 13J is hiring a Part Time Middle School Football Assistant Coach to develop young athletes and support our football program in Independence, Polk County. This role combines your coaching expertise with hands-on athlete mentorship in a collaborative school environment.
About This Position
Join our athletic department as a Part Time Assistant Coach for middle school football in Independence. This position requires working alongside the Head Coach to execute an effective, structured program that develops fundamental skills and fosters a positive team culture. You'll be integral to translating the Head Coach's system of play into practical, engaging training that challenges our athletes to grow both athletically and personally.
What You'll Do
- Teach individual athletes the fundamentals, techniques, and strategies essential to football excellence
- Develop and lead focused practice sessions in coordination with the Head Coach's vision and schedule
- Provide direct instruction on conditioning, form, and game-specific skills
- Support program logistics, including equipment management, field preparation, and attendance tracking
- Collaborate with the Head Coach and Activities Director on scheduling, administrative coordination, and operational matters
- Model professional conduct and reinforce team values with student-athletes
What We're Looking For
- Knowledge of football fundamentals, rules, and coaching principles
- Prior coaching, mentoring, or athletic training experience
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to take direction from the Head Coach and work effectively as part of a coaching staff
- Commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate environment for young athletes
- Availability to meet program demands and attend scheduled practices and events
