Kitchen Assistant

Join Greene King as a Kitchen Assistant in Great Sankey, Cheshire, and become part of a dynamic hospitality team. This is a full-time position in our busy kitchen, where you'll support our chefs and cooks to deliver consistently great food and service to our guests.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for cooking—washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning vegetables, meat, and other items as directed
• Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards in the kitchen, including washing up, sanitising equipment, and managing waste appropriately
• Assist senior kitchen team members with food plating, garnishing, and delivery of dishes to the pass
• Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the kitchen supervisor or head chef
• Support the broader kitchen operation during busy service periods, adapting quickly to changing priorities
• Follow all health and safety procedures and Greene King's food hygiene guidelines at all times

Skills & Qualifications

• Reliability and a strong work ethic—you're someone the team can depend on
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy kitchen environment
• Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices (formal certification an advantage, but full training will be provided)
• Willingness to learn and improve your culinary skills over time
• Good communication and the ability to take direction clearly
• Physical stamina to handle the demands of kitchen work, including standing for long periods and lifting items safely
