About This Position

As Staff Security Engineer at Delivery Hero, you'll own the security vision and strategy for our GSOC function, working remotely from Berlin whilst collaborating with cross-functional teams globally. You'll bridge technical depth with architectural leadership, designing systems that scale securely and mentoring engineers at all levels. This is a strategic role where security becomes intrinsic to every layer of our technology stack, from cloud infrastructure to application delivery.

Core Duties

• Design and implement security architecture across Delivery Hero's global infrastructure, services, and cloud environments
• Lead threat modelling exercises, vulnerability assessments, and security incident response initiatives
• Develop security standards, best practices, and compliance frameworks organisation-wide
• Conduct security code reviews and architecture assessments to strengthen application and system resilience
• Mentor security engineers and guide broader engineering teams on secure development practices
• Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to embed security into development pipelines
• Research emerging threats and security research to keep defences current and effective

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional cybersecurity experience, with at least 3 years in a staff or senior architect capacity
• Deep expertise in application security, infrastructure security, or cloud security platforms
• Demonstrated ability to design secure systems and conduct rigorous threat analysis
• Strong foundation in OWASP, common vulnerability classes, and industry security frameworks
• Proven track record leading security initiatives and coaching technical teams
• Excellent communication skills for presenting complex security concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
• Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or OSCP preferred
