Home Depot is hiring a full-time Repair and Tool Technician in Topeka, Shawnee County to diagnose, service, and restore outdoor equipment and power tools. If you have hands-on mechanical expertise and pride yourself on getting equipment back in working order, we're looking for you.

About the Role

As a Repair and Tool Technician, you'll be the trusted service expert behind our Tool Rental Centers and repair operations. You'll evaluate and restore small engines, outdoor power equipment, and handheld electrical devices, ensuring every piece of equipment meets our quality standards before going back into customer hands. Working in both retail locations and dedicated service areas, you'll combine technical skill with customer-focused service to keep equipment running reliably.

What You'll Do

• Inspect and diagnose mechanical and electrical problems in equipment and power tools
• Perform repairs and scheduled maintenance using appropriate repair manuals and techniques
• Reassemble and test equipment thoroughly to verify correct operation and safety
• Advise customers and colleagues on repair options, maintenance schedules, and equipment capabilities
• Maintain detailed records of all repair work completed
• Store equipment properly and manage Tool Rental Center inventory as needed
• Follow all safety protocols and manufacturer guidelines throughout the repair process

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated experience repairing small engines, outdoor power equipment, or handheld power tools
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
• Understanding of engine mechanics, electrical systems, and equipment maintenance
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
• Commitment to quality workmanship and attention to detail
• Ability to communicate clearly with customers about repair needs and timelines
