Controller – Remote/Worldwide

About the Role

We're seeking an experienced financial leader to step into the Controller role, where you'll command our entire finance function and report directly to executive leadership. You'll be responsible for the financial health of our e-commerce operations, from day-to-day accounting to long-term strategic planning and capital allocation decisions.

Core Duties

• Administer the full accounting machinery, from paying suppliers and collecting from customers to processing employee payroll
• Execute monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures and generate financial statements and reports for leadership review
• Design and enforce internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance procedures across the organization
• Perform in-depth financial analysis to support executive decision-making and strategic initiatives
• Spearhead annual budget development, revenue forecasting, and variance analysis to measure business performance
• Build financial projections and scenario analyses for new product launches, market expansion, and strategic investments
• Examine revenue and cost patterns across products, customer types, and business segments
• Coordinate seamless data flow from our inventory systems, e-commerce platforms, and payment processors into our accounting system
• Champion financial system upgrades and process improvement initiatives across all accounting functions
• Develop and track financial metrics and dashboards that inform business decisions
• Manage tax compliance, regulatory reporting, and relationships with auditors and tax advisors
• Safeguard against financial and operational risks through strong internal oversight
• Coach and develop accounting team members and provide financial expertise to other departments

Who We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar discipline; CPA designation highly desired; advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or MBA is a plus
• 7–10 years of accounting and finance experience with 3+ years managing finances as a Controller-level leader
• Hands-on experience in e-commerce, retail, or product-based businesses with complex inventory
• Hands-on expertise with ERP software including NetSuite, QuickBooks Enterprise, or similar platforms
• Expert-level spreadsheet skills and financial modeling capabilities using Excel or Google Sheets
• Solid grasp of US GAAP, IFRS accounting standards, and US tax compliance requirements
• Track record managing calendar-end and fiscal-year-end closing procedures smoothly
• Comfort with business intelligence platforms and financial reporting software
• Keen analytical mind with strong problem-solving skills and precision-focused execution
• Polished communication abilities for presenting to senior executives and board members
• Self-directed work style suited to independent decision-making with light managerial oversight
• Proven ability to juggle multiple initiatives in a high-growth, fast-moving environment
