Android Engineer

Responsibilities

We are representing a fast-growing fintech organization seeking a product-focused Android Engineer to evolve their native mobile application. You'll work in a small, autonomous squad alongside iOS Engineers, Backend Engineers, User Researchers, Product Designers, Product Managers, QA Testers, and Data Scientists.

In this role, you will:

• Build polished user experiences that balance well-tested, resilient code with the need to move fast and iterate
• Work on a product used by millions of people, shaping how they interact with their finances
• Take ownership of company goals rather than just building specific features, with the opportunity to influence both what you build and how you build it
• Collaborate with your engineering manager in regular 1:1s focused on your growth and development
• Participate in weekly discipline meetings to discuss tools, techniques, and improvements across the codebase

The tech stack includes a 100% Kotlin app built with MVVM and Coordinators, approximately 95% in Compose. The team uses Coroutines, Retrofit and Moshi for API calls, Dagger for dependency injection, and Room for persistence. Code reviews happen via GitHub Pull Requests, with unit tests for ViewModels and Coordinators, Compose screen tests with snapshot testing, and Espresso for flow testing via continuous integration.

What We're Looking For

• Experience programming in Kotlin with a strong understanding of the Android platform
• A track record of shipping and iterating on at least one app in the Play Store
• A product mindset: you care about customer outcomes and make data-informed decisions
• Passion for turning excellent design into beautiful products
• Comfort working in teams that deal with ambiguity
• Understanding of computer science principles
• Focus on impact and outcomes rather than lines of code
