About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential quantitative trading firm seeking a Data Scientist Intern for summer 2027 in London. Our client operates at the intersection of finance and technology, where data serves as the foundation for automated trading strategies and risk management systems.

This internship provides hands-on experience in data engineering and analysis within the algorithmic trading industry. As an intern, you'll work on independent projects extracting insights from large datasets, normalizing vendor data, and applying quality validation methodologies that support research and trading operations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct independent data investigation projects using Python and open-source libraries such as pandas and polars
• Extract and validate features from quantitative and textual datasets
• Apply rigorous quality checks to ensure data integrity for trading systems
• Normalize and validate vendor data feeds
• Investigate methodologies to improve data quality for research applications
• Work alongside mentors to understand research and trading infrastructure

What We're Looking For

• Full-time student pursuing a degree in a STEM field (computer science background not required)
• Programming experience with Python at the level of "Python for Data Analysis" by Wes McKinney
• Genuine curiosity for working with data and uncovering insights
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Strong communication skills
• Independent data projects or Kaggle competitions are a plus
• Must be available for summer 2027

Pay

Weekly base salary of £4,350 GBP in addition to company-paid housing, meals, and other perks provided by the client.
