Senior Analytics Engineer

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential fintech organization seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to join their data team. In this role, you will:

• Build and maintain robust data models in BigQuery that support internal reporting, machine learning, and financial use cases
• Optimize the data warehouse by identifying opportunities to reduce complexity and operational costs
• Define and manage best practices for data warehousing, including payload design, logical data modelling, implementation standards, metadata management, and testing
• Establish standards and ways of working with data across the organization, collaborating with colleagues to implement them
• Apply established best practices to new areas of the business
• Monitor and improve data quality within the warehouse, working effectively with colleagues from other disciplines
• Contribute to prioritization of data governance issues
• Support the pipelines you contribute to, including occasional on-call support outside standard hours

What We're Looking For

Essential skills and experience:

• Strong passion for data modelling, ETL projects, and Big Data
• Experience working with cross-functional, fast-moving teams
• Ability to think strategically about products and how underlying data models unlock insights and customer value
• Comfort working with data streams from various services, including financial, transactional, and operational systems
• Expert-level SQL and data modelling skills; comfortable with general data warehousing concepts
• Commitment to continuous improvement, proactively identifying opportunities and addressing challenges

Desirable experience:

• Experience working within a finance function or knowledge of accounting
• Experience in highly regulated environments (finance, gaming, healthcare)
• Knowledge of regulatory reporting and treasury operations in retail banking
• Exposure to Python, Go, or similar languages
• Experience with orchestration frameworks such as Airflow or Luigi
• Previous use of dbt, dataform, or similar tooling
• Familiarity with AGILE ways of working (Kanban, Scrum)
