Working Student – Mechatronics Assembly Technician (20 hrs)

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential robotics technology organization based in the Potsdam area. They are seeking a Working Student - Mechatronics Assembly Technician to join their hardware development efforts on a part-time basis (20 hours per week).

In this hands-on role, you will assemble advanced sensor systems that integrate electronics, mechanical components, communication hardware, and power systems designed for demanding industrial environments. Your work will directly support the development of automation solutions for heavy machinery applications.

Responsibilities

• Build and assemble robust sensor enclosures integrating sophisticated electronics and mechanical systems using best-practice assembly methods
• Ensure long-term stability, durability, and field-ready performance in each assembled unit
• Implement, document, and refine quality assurance processes to meet rigorous functional and mechanical standards
• Contribute to mechanical prototyping using CAD tools, 3D printing, and basic CNC machining
• Support rapid design iterations and provide manufacturability feedback to the hardware team
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives across design, assembly, and testing workflows
• Potential to coordinate external assembly partnerships with suppliers as you grow in the role

What We're Looking For

• Currently enrolled in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• Hands-on experience with mechanical or hardware assembly, with attention to durability, precision, and build quality
• Basic experience with CAD modeling software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, CATIA, or similar)
• Practical skills in prototyping techniques including 3D printing, laser cutting, or CNC machining
• Understanding of sensor systems, communication equipment, or embedded electronics is a plus
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Desire to contribute in a fast-moving hardware development environment
