Lead Quality Assurance Engineer – Machine Learning

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential sports technology organization seeking a Lead Quality Assurance Engineer to join their Applied Machine Learning platform team. In this role, you will provide technical leadership across machine learning operations, owning the architecture and strategy for quality infrastructure that serves multiple product squads.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering quality leadership across the ML platform squad and broader ML organization, helping teams ship machine learning products faster and with greater confidence
• Designing and building quality infrastructure across the MLOps platform, including test frameworks, deployment safety tooling, and observability solutions
• Working hands-on as a contributor to engineering work, writing code, designing systems, and implementing quality solutions
• Driving alignment on quality initiatives from CI/CD pipeline standards to canary release patterns and hardware-in-the-loop testing
• Anticipating risks across the ML product lifecycle including experimentation, deployment, inference, and observability
• Coaching and mentoring software engineers, data scientists, and QA practitioners on technical quality and innovation

What We're Looking For

Must-have qualifications:

• Hands-on experience designing and building shared ML platform tooling such as experimentation infrastructure, model deployment pipelines, observability systems, or inference at scale
• Proven experience leading complex quality initiatives across platform and product teams, with ability to define strategy for shared infrastructure serving multiple squads
• Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines, deployment safety patterns including canary deployments, A/B testing, and automated rollback
• Ability to influence and guide teams without direct reports, helping them adopt best practices and foster a quality-focused mindset
• Strong problem-solving skills to autonomously identify and solve critical quality challenges across complex, distributed ML systems
• Excellent remote collaboration skills for working with teams across the US and Europe

Nice to have:

• Experience using AI/ML in sports to generate data or create insights
