Senior Cloud Platform Engineer (AWS/GCP)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential managed services organization seeking a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to join their Product Engineering team. This is a remote opportunity to work on cutting-edge public cloud technologies within a small, collaborative, Agile-based team.

In this role, you will lead engineering initiatives for repeatable cloud services and solutions. You'll act as the lead engineer on product epics and stories, developing new services that can be deployed across multiple managed service engagements. Your work will involve defining and evolving technical standards to ensure repeatability, supportability, scalability, and security across cloud environments.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading engineering efforts on product development initiatives
• Operationalizing new repeatable public cloud services and solutions
• Defining and evolving cloud technical standards
• Making recommendations on technical stack through research, assessments, and proof of concepts
• Assessing and onboarding new AWS and GCP services aligned with the product roadmap
• Driving deployment of automated infrastructure using IaC, configuration management, and scripting
• Providing subject matter expertise to pre-sales architects on technical standards
• Acting as final escalation point for cloud operations teams on major problems
• Staying current on public cloud services and related technologies

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate brings deep cloud platform expertise with a genuine passion for automation, simplicity, and scalable design:

• 8+ years supporting highly customer-focused mission-critical environments
• 5+ years architecting, engineering, or supporting public cloud solutions on AWS or GCP
• Strong knowledge of AWS or GCP best practices, security considerations, and architectural design patterns
• Multiple current AWS or Google Cloud certifications (or equivalent demonstrated knowledge)
• Proven experience building solutions using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Experience with configuration management systems (Ansible)
• Excellent Linux OS knowledge (RHCE or equivalent)
• Scripting ability in Python, Perl, or Bash
• Experience using Git for version control
• Experience with AWS or GCP CLI and scripting
• Good knowledge of TCP/IP networking
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to share knowledge through clear documentation and presentations
• Self-motivated with strong working attitude and ability to work independently

Beneficial experience includes:

• Containerized environments (ECS/EKS/Kubernetes/Docker)
• CI/CD pipeline technology (Jenkins or similar)
• AI productivity tools (Copilot/Claude)
• ITIL and Agile environments
• Computing-related degree or equivalent knowledge
