Site Reliability Engineer (Storage) – remote friendly

About This Opportunity

We are representing a regulated fintech organization that is building Europe-scale banking infrastructure. Our talent team is searching for a Site Reliability Engineer (Storage) to join a critical platform team responsible for operating production databases and storage systems that underpin financial services for hundreds of thousands of users.

This is a remote-friendly role based in Paris, working with a distributed team across Europe. You'll operate PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, and Elasticsearch at banking-grade reliability standards, and help backend teams self-serve storage resources through internal platform tooling.

Responsibilities

• Operate and safeguard critical storage infrastructure including PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, and Elasticsearch in production environments
• Own incident response and root-cause analysis for performance issues, query optimization, and availability events
• Build and maintain the banking-license compliance roadmap for backup, disaster recovery, and data resilience scenarios in partnership with Risk & Compliance stakeholders
• Ship code for internal platform APIs that enable backend teams to provision storage resources in a self-service model
• Contribute to making storage APIs safe and traceable for autonomous agents and AI-driven workflows
• Participate in on-call rotation as the last line of defense for stateful production systems

What We're Looking For

• Solid PostgreSQL production experience: You have operated PostgreSQL in production, investigated performance issues, managed backups and restores, and made safe schema or configuration changes. Deep PostgreSQL mastery is a plus, but not required from day one.
• Comfortable across the storage stack: Working knowledge of Redis, Kafka, or Elasticsearch, with the ability to learn new systems quickly
• Practical AI usage: You already use AI tools to speed up debugging, coding, documentation, or operational work as part of your daily workflow — not as a buzzword, but as a real productivity habit. Curiosity about how AI agents can safely interact with sensitive production systems is valued.
• You write code: Comfortable shipping features and building internal tooling, not just writing scripts
• Calm, rigorous incident response: Proven experience handling production incidents on stateful systems while staying composed under pressure
• Remote-first work style with strong asynchronous communication skills
