Responsibilities

As a Board Member, you will:

• Provide governance and oversight for organizational operations
• Contribute to strategic planning development and monitor execution
• Ensure financial stability and organizational accountability
• Advocate for the mission and engage in community outreach efforts
• Attend and actively participate in mandatory quarterly remote board meetings
• Participate in relevant committee meetings as needed

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will bring:

• Proven leadership experience in a board role or similar capacity
• Strong commitment to nonprofit mission-driven work
• Experience in governance, finance, fundraising, and/or nonprofit management
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to think critically
• Ability to engage in constructive dialogue and work collaboratively with diverse teams
• Background in environmental or conservation stewardship (preferred)
• Prior nonprofit experience (highly preferred)
• Location within the contiguous United States (highly preferred)
• Availability to attend periodic meetings during regular business hours in Central Standard Time
• Ability to dedicate approximately eight hours per month
• Minimum two-year commitment

Quarterly board meetings are scheduled well in advance and typically occur on Sunday afternoons or evenings for approximately two hours.

Pay

This is an unpaid volunteer position. Upon successful completion of two years of service, a letter of recommendation will be provided upon request.
