We are representing a confidential marketplace technology company with a critical role in their London office. Our client operates a complex, multi-sided platform serving millions of users daily across food, grocery, and retail verticals. They are seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to drive personalisation and ranking models that increase engagement across their expanding product lines.

This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days per week in their London office, working within a global engineering organization that tackles ranking, recommendation, and notification systems at significant scale.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve ranking models for vertical landing pages across grocery and retail, determining what users see first when browsing product categories
• Design models that integrate multi-vertical content into homepage experiences without disrupting core user flows
• Develop personalisation systems that translate user behaviour patterns into relevant cross-vertical recommendations
• Contribute to notification targeting systems, optimising who receives messages, what content they see, and when notifications are sent to drive vertical adoption
• Own end-to-end model productionisation from experimentation through deployment and monitoring

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or Data Scientist with proven ability to write production-quality Python code
• Demonstrated experience with end-to-end model productionisation in live systems
• Strong bias toward simplicity and achieving measurable impact over complexity
• Background in personalisation, ranking, or recommender systems
• Exposure to causal inference or uplift modelling is a genuine advantage but not required
• Comfort working in a low-hierarchy, high-ownership environment where you ship and iterate quickly
