Android Mobile Engineer

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential travel-tech organization seeking an Android Mobile Engineer for a remote position based in the UK. Our client operates with a remote-first model, with periodic in-person collaboration at office hubs in Oxford or London (within 1–2 hours commute).

In this role, you will:

• Write code as your primary focus, working within a fast-paced mobile development environment with daily release cycles
• Develop Android applications using Kotlin, Coroutines, Jetpack Compose, and GraphQL in a modular architecture following clean-architecture concepts with MVVM
• Collaborate closely with product managers and designers throughout the full development process—from software design through deployment
• Take ownership of all aspects of software engineering, including design, implementation, development experience, QA, and maintenance
• Occasionally work on backend microservices, gaining exposure across the full stack
• Release code to production every few days, maintaining high quality and velocity
• Work alongside engineering teams distributed globally

What We're Looking For

• At least 3 years of commercial software development experience solving diverse technical problems
• Proven experience developing Android applications with strong native mobile platform skills
• Experience with reactive programming in native mobile platforms
• Demonstrated ability to use AI tools to improve efficiency, quality, and decision-making in daily work
• Ability to operate effectively with a global-first mindset
• Familiarity with mobile web and backend technologies is beneficial
• Strong ability to break down complex problems into simple, elegant solutions
• Willingness and ability to learn new technologies quickly
• High-quality verbal and written communication skills
• Sense of ownership and pride in your work
