Manager Engineering, Accounting Data and Systems

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential fintech organization seeking a Manager of Engineering, Accounting Data and Systems to lead a critical team in London. In this role, you will:

• Own the strategic roadmap and execution for accounting infrastructure, including data pipelines, system integrations, and automation platforms that power financial reporting, reconciliation, and compliance at scale
• Partner with Accounting, Finance, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate complex regulatory and operational requirements into reliable, auditable backend systems
• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, setting technical direction and fostering a high-performance culture within a fast-moving, high-stakes financial environment
• Drive measurable improvements in data accuracy, pipeline reliability, and system scalability — directly enabling faster close cycles and audit readiness across the organization
• Build and maintain scalable backend systems that ensure accuracy, auditability, and compliance at enterprise scale

What We're Looking For

Our talent team is seeking candidates with the following qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience in data or software engineering, including 2+ years leading engineering teams, ideally within fintech, marketplace, or high-growth tech environments
• Hands-on expertise with modern data infrastructure tools such as Fivetran, dbt Cloud, Snowflake, and Workato, with the ability to guide technical decisions across the stack
• Strong working knowledge of financial processes — including revenue recognition, reconciliation, and close workflows — and the ability to bridge the gap between engineering and accounting stakeholders
• Clear communication skills to align diverse partners (Finance, Accounting, Compliance, Engineering) around complex technical tradeoffs and delivery timelines
• Experience with distributed systems, data quality frameworks, and SOX-relevant controls is a strong plus
• Technical leadership experience in building scalable, reliable systems that power mission-critical financial operations
