Senior Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential market research technology company in their search for a Senior Backend Engineer to join a talented engineering team in Hamburg. In this role, you will:

• Design and maintain server-side applications and database architecture using Node.js, Express, and MongoDB
• Collaborate with front-end developers to deliver seamless user experiences
• Regularly review and improve code quality and system efficiency
• Develop and deploy reusable, testable code with comprehensive automated testing
• Work within small, agile product teams with significant ownership and fast decision-making cycles

What We're Looking For

Our client is seeking a candidate who brings:

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Node.js, with strong proficiency in TypeScript and Express
• Practical experience working with NoSQL databases, preferably MongoDB
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles
• A degree in Computer Science or related field, or comparable vocational training
• Experience with AWS (S3, ECS, EC2), Docker, and Terraform is a plus
• Previous experience with NestJS is a plus
• A proactive problem-solving approach with a commitment to continuous improvement
• Strong team collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and technologies

Location: This is a fully remote position open to candidates based in Germany, the UK, Portugal, the Netherlands, and Spain. The role reports to the Head of Infrastructure.

Tech Stack: Node.js (TypeScript), Express, MongoDB, AWS, Docker, Terraform, with Angular and Flutter on the frontend.
