About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential data center infrastructure organization in their search for an experienced Environmental Engineer. This role offers the chance to lead air permitting and environmental compliance for cutting-edge facility projects across the United States. You'll combine regulatory expertise with hands-on compliance work to keep development timelines on track while meeting all state and federal requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage air permitting processes for data center facilities, including permits for backup generators, emergency engines, and related emission sources
  • Prepare and submit permit applications to state and federal agencies and track through approval
  • Lead environmental permitting for new site development, from initial site assessment through permit issuance
  • Oversee and manage third-party consultants and contractors performing permitting work, ensuring quality, accuracy, and on-time submittals
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with air, water, and waste regulations across project lifecycle
  • Support field operations during construction and commissioning to maintain environmental compliance
  • Support environmental compliance audits and manage corrective actions
  • Coordinate wildlife, water, and waste management requirements as needed for site development
  • Interface with regulators, project managers, and contractors

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering or related field
  • 10+ years of environmental compliance experience, ideally in energy, oil and gas, or infrastructure
  • Demonstrated air permitting expertise (Title V, minor source, PSD/NSR familiarity a plus)
  • Working knowledge of state and federal waste, water, and air regulations
  • Field experience supporting operations and compliance
  • Strong background in compliance auditing
  • Experience managing outside consultants or contractors on permitting deliverables and environmental compliance
  • Ability to manage multiple permits and deadlines across sites

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with generator/engine air permitting
  • Multi-state permitting experience
  • Familiarity with data center or industrial facility development
