Data Scientist, Data Quality & Provenance

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential autonomous vehicle technology company in their search for a Data Scientist specializing in Data Quality & Provenance. This is a remote position supporting cutting-edge AI engineering teams working on advanced driving systems.

In this role, you will partner directly with engineering teams to develop actionable insights that guide improvements to AI-driven autonomous systems. You'll use experimental and observational analyses of real and simulated driving data to help advance functionality, safety, and performance of next-generation mobility solutions.

Responsibilities

• Formulate and iterate upon performance metrics that organize engineering efforts and guide progress toward commercial success
• Design experiments and targeted measurements to ensure product requirements are delivered while maintaining safety and performance standards
• Investigate factors in model training and inference leading to bottlenecks in functionality and performance
• Identify and validate hypotheses for unlocking improvements in AI systems
• Query and build large datasets, writing production-level SQL for use in data-transformation pipelines
• Summarize, visualize, and communicate findings in accessible and compelling ways to influence team direction
• Work asynchronously across time zones with cross-functional partners

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience working in a Data Science role
• Fluency in querying and building large datasets with production-level SQL
• Prior experience designing robust real-world experiments (e.g., A/B testing) and critically evaluating test statistics
• Strong foundations in statistical fundamentals: testing appropriate distributions and assumptions behind frequentist statistics
• Proficiency in statistical scripting languages and data science/ML packages (Python with pandas, sklearn, statsmodels, scipy; or R with dplyr, caret, stats)
• Well-versed in summarizing, visualizing, and communicating findings effectively
• Track record of influencing team direction through data-driven findings
• Bias towards deriving actionable insights that drive prioritization and strategy
• Comfortable working asynchronously across time zones
• Deep curiosity about building innovative solutions in emerging technology spaces

Desirable Qualifications:

• Practical experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch)
• Track record of promoting statistical rigor and experimental best practices
• Prior experience using causal inference/econometric techniques and Bayesian methodologies for hypothesis testing
• Experience with large datasets and distributed computing (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, or other map-reduce technologies)
• Experience working in a fast-moving tech company or startup environment
