About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology holding organization based in Germany that operates a portfolio of enterprise software companies across Europe. Our talent team is seeking a Cloud and AI Engineer to join a central platform team responsible for building and operating shared AI infrastructure used across multiple business units.

This is a core infrastructure role: you will own the deployment, integration, and operational stability of an enterprise AI platform that serves dozens of organizations. You'll work at the intersection of cloud engineering, DevOps, and applied AI—shipping tooling, writing developer documentation, and enabling distributed teams to adopt and operate AI systems at scale.

Location: Cologne, Germany (remote-first with optional office access). This is a permanent, full-time position.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the central AI platform infrastructure using container orchestration, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud-native patterns
• Deploy and configure platform instances for multiple business units; ensure stability, security, and consistent configuration across the fleet
• Qualify upstream releases: assess migrations, breaking changes, and compatibility; validate on staging; publish versioned releases with admin guidance
• Manage shared cloud infrastructure including application gateways, WAF policies, TLS certificates, Redis, DNS, and network peering
• Provide L2 technical support and enable distributed platform administrators through documentation, onboarding sessions, office hours, and guardrails
• Maintain a versioned catalog of integrations, tools, and agents—each with user and developer guides
• Implement fleet observability: track version parity, uptime, cloud spend, and deployment status across all instances
• Own an evaluation service for measuring agent and integration quality; establish methodology and maintain evaluation tooling
• Gather operational signals from production systems and drive continuous improvement cycles

What We're Looking For

Required:

• At least 2 years of professional experience in platform engineering, DevOps, SRE, or cloud operations with ownership of production systems that other teams depend on
• Production cloud experience on Azure or AWS
• Infrastructure as Code in production: Bicep, Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation
• Strong Python skills beyond scripting: you have built and maintained small production services, worked with APIs, and navigated unfamiliar codebases
• Comfortable with Linux, Docker, Git, and CI/CD as everyday tools
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL in production and identity concepts (OAuth, SSO, Entra ID)
• AI-native: you use LLMs as tools, understand their operational properties, and have shipped something with them
• Fluent English (primary working language); conversational German is a plus

Bonus:

• Clear technical writing: documentation is a core part of this role, not an afterthought
• Experience building internal platforms or tooling used by other engineering teams
• Work in multi-tenant or multi-customer cloud environments
• Contributions to open-source projects, or maintaining a modified version of one in production
• Practical experience with LLM frameworks, agents, MCP, or RAG systems in production
• French language skills
