About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing AI consulting firm in Cologne that builds production-grade machine learning systems for mid-market clients across the DACH region. Our client has experienced exceptional growth and is expanding their engineering team to support increasing demand for intelligent automation solutions.

This role offers direct technical ownership from architecture through deployment, working on LLM applications, RAG systems, and agentic workflows that deliver measurable business value. You'll collaborate directly with clients, translating business requirements into robust technical solutions while making key architectural decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build AI systems end-to-end, focusing on LLM applications, retrieval-augmented generation, and agentic workflows
  • Develop scalable backend services and APIs primarily using Python and FastAPI
  • Deploy and maintain cloud-based AI services, preferably on Microsoft Azure, with occasional AWS or GCP projects
  • Ensure production quality through comprehensive testing, evaluation frameworks, and monitoring
  • Engage directly with clients to understand requirements, propose technical architecture, and guide technology decisions throughout project lifecycles

What We're Looking For

  • Strong professional experience developing with Python in production environments
  • Hands-on experience with machine learning models and large language models from real-world projects
  • Practical knowledge of cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure, alternatively AWS or GCP
  • Completed degree or vocational training in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, or related field
  • Ability to work independently, make architectural decisions, and quickly master new technologies
  • Excellent German language skills (required for client interaction in the DACH market)
  • Based in or willing to relocate to Cologne, with flexible remote work available
