Development & Communications Officer (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential international humanitarian organization based in Berlin. Our client supports communities affected by conflict, crisis, and social exclusion, with a focus on guiding vulnerable populations toward sustainable recovery.

We're seeking a Development & Communications Officer (m/w/d) on a full-time basis to drive fundraising operations, grant management, and strategic communications for impactful projects worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Research, evaluate, and track new funding opportunities from institutional donors, foundations, and major donors, maintaining strict deadline control
• Write compelling grant proposals, concept papers, and timely reports in coordination with program and finance departments
• Build and nurture donor relationships, manage donor communications, and organize engagement events
• Create audience-appropriate content for proposals, reports, CRM newsletters, and fundraising campaigns
• Maintain the funding database (CRM), generate revenue reports, and use data to inform fundraising strategy
• Serve as liaison between program and communications teams to ensure smooth information flow

What We're Looking For

• Completed degree in International Development, Humanitarian Affairs, Political/Social Sciences, Communications, Fundraising, Business Administration, or comparable qualification
• Minimum three years of experience in fundraising, grant management, or donor relations, preferably in the nonprofit or humanitarian sector
• Demonstrated expertise in Project Cycle Management, grant writing, and grant management
• Strong understanding of the donor landscape, compliance requirements, monitoring & evaluation, and financial reporting
• Experienced user of CRM systems and MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Negotiation-level proficiency in German and English with excellent writing and editing skills for audience-specific content; Hebrew language skills are advantageous
• Strategic and pragmatic thinking, strong deadline adherence, intercultural sensitivity, and awareness of communication and reputational risks
• Willingness to travel occasionally
