Bilanzbuchhalter / Senior Finanzbuchhalter (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential construction organization in the Bad Soden area seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to take full ownership of their accounting operations. In this role, you will:

• Independently manage and control the complete financial accounting cycle, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, banking, and fixed assets
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements according to HGB (German Commercial Code) to audit-ready standards
• Record and manage provisions, accruals, deferrals, depreciation, and year-end closing entries
• Create and validate monthly management reports (BWA), trial balances, balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and outstanding items reports
• Analyze and present business performance findings to executive management
• Prepare VAT pre-registrations and handle VAT matters, particularly under §13b UStG (reverse charge)
• Execute and control cost center, cost unit, and project accounting
• Manage payment processing, monitor liquidity, and oversee dunning procedures
• Serve as primary contact for tax advisors, auditors, tax authorities, and banking institutions
• Independently prepare for and support annual audits and tax inspections
• Drive ongoing digitalization and process improvement initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional teams

What We're Looking For

Our client requires a qualified accounting professional with deep HGB expertise and construction industry experience:

• Completed certification as Bilanzbuchhalter (IHK), Steuerfachwirt, or equivalent qualification
• Alternatively: training as Steuerfachangestellter or Finanzbuchhalter with demonstrable multi-year experience independently preparing financial statements
• Several years of proven experience preparing complete monthly and annual financial statements under HGB
• Documented experience independently creating and analyzing BWA, balance sheets, and profit and loss statements
• Strong knowledge of German commercial and tax law
• Proficiency with DATEV Rechnungswesen and DATEV Unternehmen online, or comparable accounting/ERP systems
• Ideally, experience in the construction sector, particularly with §13b UStG reverse charge, progress and final invoicing, retention amounts, and cost center/project accounting
• Independent, structured, and reliable working style
• High sense of responsibility, analytical thinking ability, and absolute discretion
