About This Opportunity

We are representing a well-established geotechnical and environmental engineering consultancy based in Aachen. Our client has been delivering sustainable infrastructure and environmental remediation projects for over four decades and is now seeking a planning engineer to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex waste management, contaminated site remediation, and infrastructure projects from concept through to execution.

Responsibilities

As a planning engineer, you will guide projects from initial concept through to execution readiness, developing economically viable and technically sound solutions while coordinating all relevant planning stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include:

• Independent execution of HOAI service phases 1 through 7, including construction supervision
• Conducting baseline assessments and coordinating project objectives with clients
• Preparing preliminary, draft, and approval planning documentation
• Developing technical concepts with consideration for economic viability, sustainability, and applicable standards
• Creating and coordinating planning documents, drawings, and technical documentation
• Liaising with clients, authorities, specialist planners, and external project participants
• Preparing and submitting permit applications
• Contributing to cost and schedule planning in early project phases
• Ensuring compliance with legal, technical, and building code requirements
• Supporting project management and interdisciplinary collaboration within the planning team

What We're Looking For

• Successfully completed degree in civil engineering, architecture, or a comparable discipline
• Professional experience in planning contaminated site remediation, landfill, or infrastructure projects
• Strong knowledge of HOAI fee structure, particularly service phases 1 through 4
• Solid understanding of relevant technical regulations and approval procedures
• Experience with CAD and BIM applications (e.g., AutoCAD, ASBwin, Revit, or comparable software)
• Structured, independent, and solution-oriented working style
• Strong communication and coordination skills
• Team-oriented approach with confident presence when dealing with clients, authorities, and planning partners
• German language proficiency required for this role
