Senior+ Backend Software Engineer – Canada

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential live-commerce platform seeking a Senior+ Backend Software Engineer based in Canada. Our client is a fast-growing technology company transforming how people buy and sell unique goods through interactive, real-time shopping experiences. This is a remote role open to candidates anywhere in Canada.

As a senior member of the engineering team, you will architect and build the core systems that power millions of live transactions, working on high-scale challenges in real-time bidding, live streaming infrastructure, and payment processing.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain robust backend services and APIs powering web and mobile applications using Node.js and TypeScript
• Lead architectural decisions for scalable systems handling high-volume, real-time user interactions
• Collaborate with product management, design, and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable, performant services
• Take ownership of key components and systems, developing expert-level understanding across the full stack
• Deliver large-scope projects while maintaining consistently high productivity and code quality
• Innovate on features including live streaming, checkout flows, and instant bidding experiences

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin required
• 5+ years of experience building highly scalable and reliable backend infrastructure
• Strong expertise in Node.js and TypeScript
• Experience with payment systems strongly preferred
• Kubernetes experience preferred
• Proven track record of leading technical decisions and mentoring team members
• Ability to work remotely with strong communication and collaboration skills

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai: $200,000 - $250,000 CAD. Equity grants are also part of the total compensation package.
