Senior Back End Engineer [Remote-US]

About This Opportunity

We are representing a well-funded insurance technology company in their search for a Senior Back End Engineer to join their remote engineering team. Our client is building advanced risk prediction platforms and modern insurance solutions backed by a major industry leader.

As a senior individual contributor, you'll design and maintain the core services that power their digital insurance platform. You'll work on scalable back end systems, integrate data and machine learning workflows, and ensure platform reliability and performance. This role offers significant ownership of complex features from architecture through deployment, plus opportunities to mentor other engineers and influence technical direction.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain client-facing and internal APIs supporting product functionality
• Architect and orchestrate data flows across back end services, applications, and third-party systems
• Design and manage database schemas and data storage solutions for scalable applications
• Lead end-to-end delivery of complex product features from concept through deployment
• Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks to ensure software quality and reliability
• Evaluate, integrate, and support third-party services, tools, and platforms
• Improve system architecture, performance, observability, security, and reliability
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and knowledge sharing across the engineering team

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
• 6–8 years of back end or full-stack software engineering experience
• Working knowledge of Go, plus professional experience with Go, Python, Ruby, TypeScript, or C#
• Experience designing and deploying high-performance client/server systems for business-critical applications
• Strong background with database technologies and messaging systems
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and modern CI/CD practices
• Knowledge of software security principles, testing methodologies, and engineering best practices
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
• Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and ownership of technical outcomes
• Ability to mentor and support other engineers

Bonus:

• Experience with GraphQL, gRPC, Postgres, Mongo, Snowflake, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS
• Background in financial sectors such as insurance, banking, or investing

Pay

This is a full-time, remote position available anywhere in the United States (excluding U.S. territories).
