About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential technology organization operating critical IoT infrastructure at global scale. We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer I, Cloud Security Platform to join their Infrastructure organization in the United Kingdom.

In this role, you'll evolve the cloud foundations that underpin production systems serving mission-critical operations. You'll reduce systemic production risk and enable continued growth by making infrastructure safer to change, easier to operate, and more resilient and cost-efficient at scale.

You'll bring deep expertise in at least one infrastructure domain—such as compute and workload orchestration, networking, storage and stateful systems, or cloud control planes—and apply it across a multi-account, multi-region AWS environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate reliable cloud platforms with depth in compute, networking, storage, stateful systems, or infrastructure control planes
  • Improve scalability, capacity management, isolation, recovery, and cost efficiency of critical production infrastructure
  • Build standardized infrastructure-as-code workflows and reusable automation supporting self-service provisioning, testing, progressive rollout, reconciliation, rollback, and drift prevention
  • Identify shared failure modes and build safeguards preventing localized failures from escalating into broad customer impact
  • Contribute to multi-account, multi-region, and isolated AWS architectures, including regulated environments such as GovCloud
  • Participate in operational ownership and incident response, using incidents and near misses to drive durable architectural improvements
  • Mentor engineers, raise the quality of infrastructure design and operational judgment, and establish patterns for adoption across the organization
  • Clearly communicate architecture, trade-offs, risks, and migration plans to technical and organizational stakeholders

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

  • 6+ years designing and building software, infrastructure, or distributed systems, including operating critical systems in production
  • Deep expertise in at least one of: compute and workload orchestration, networking, storage and stateful systems, or cloud infrastructure control planes
  • Strong software-engineering fundamentals in Go, Python, Java, or similar language
  • Hands-on experience designing and operating infrastructure on a major public cloud platform; AWS experience preferred
  • Experience using infrastructure as code (such as Terraform) to safely manage production infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of capacity management, failure domains, observability, rollout safety, and production recovery
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives across teams through ambiguous problem spaces
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Ideal additional experience:

  • Designing and operating large-scale compute or container platforms (ECS, EKS, Kubernetes, or similar orchestration systems)
  • Designing and operating stateful distributed systems (Kafka, OpenSearch, managed databases, caching, or large-scale storage platforms)
  • Building internal infrastructure platforms, control planes, or self-service developer experiences adopted across multiple teams
  • Designing multi-account or multi-region cloud architectures with strong workload isolation and disaster recovery
  • Leading major infrastructure migrations while maintaining availability and controlling operational risk
  • Delivering measurable improvements in infrastructure capacity, cost efficiency, or developer self-service
