Threat Detection Analyst (Japanese & English speaking)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential edge cloud services organization seeking a Threat Detection Analyst who is fluent in both Japanese and English. This is a remote position available anywhere in the world, with core working hours from Friday through Tuesday, 0000-0800 UTC (9am-6pm AEST).

Our client operates at massive Internet scale, handling millions of requests per second for some of the world's most prominent digital platforms. You'll join their Customer Security Operations Center team, working to protect customers from sophisticated application-layer threats including account takeover, bot attacks, and other web-based security challenges.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze customer security activity across globally distributed systems, with emphasis on application-layer threats
• Investigate and respond to security incidents including WAF administration, bot detection, and account-takeover scenarios
• Provide expert-level security guidance to customers experiencing active security events
• Handle escalated security cases requiring deep application security knowledge
• Create and deliver security reports tailored to customer environments
• Develop and manage security content and configurations for customer deployments
• Conduct continuous improvement research to enhance security product capabilities
• Contribute to operational processes and policies that support team growth
• Mentor team members on security best practices and threat landscape developments

What We're Looking For

• Prior SOC experience required – you've worked in a security operations center environment
• Fluent Japanese and English – both written and spoken, with ability to tailor communication for varying technical audiences
• Strong application security background with practical skills in identifying and mitigating web-based threats
• Experience with cloud/SaaS environments and web server platforms (Apache, NGINX, IIS) plus associated application frameworks
• Scripting capability in languages such as Python, Java, Go, Rust, PHP, Shell, or C#
• Unix/Linux or Windows system administration experience
• Background in IT security technical support, operations, or threat research
• Software troubleshooting abilities and customer service orientation
• Ability to work independently while contributing security expertise to the broader team
• Willingness to travel internationally as required by the role
