Our talent team is representing a confidential healthcare diagnostics organization seeking a Senior Clinical Data Abstractor for a temp-to-hire position. This fully remote role combines advanced clinical expertise with data management capabilities to support critical research and quality improvement initiatives.

We're looking for a licensed healthcare professional who can perform high-quality medical record abstraction, interpret complex clinical data, and maintain rigorous quality standards across electronic health record systems and research databases.

Responsibilities

• Accurately review, interpret, and abstract clinical patient data from various EHR systems, paper charts, and source documents according to defined protocols and technical specifications
• Apply medical coding systems (ICD-10, MedDRA, CPT, HCPCS) to classify and categorize abstracted clinical data from unstructured text to standardized machine-readable formats
• Utilize specialized data management software (REDCap, registries, custom EDC systems) to enter, track, and maintain clinical data integrity in queryable databases
• Support cross-functional teams in translating clinical and data abstraction requirements, including AI and LLM initiative design
• Apply clinical data management best practices (CGDMP) and good clinical practice (GCP) standards throughout abstraction and encoding processes
• Perform quality assurance activities using technical and analytical tools including Excel/Google Sheets functions, pivot tables, and MACROs
• Conduct peer reviews of medical record data to ensure quality and productivity align with program expectations
• Maintain strict adherence to IRB requirements, HIPAA regulations, data management best practices, and organizational policies
• Participate in developing and refining abstraction guidelines, tools, and standard operating procedures
• Provide timely daily, weekly, or monthly abstraction submissions and productivity reporting
• Maintain all relevant clinical or technical licensures and certifications

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• U.S. licensed Nurse, PA-C, NP, or DNP with Master's degree in health sciences
• Strong understanding of medical terminology, disease processes (especially cancer), clinical workflows, and genetic testing
• Minimum 4-5 years of clinical data abstraction and medical records review experience, preferably in cancer, women's health, or rare diseases
• Proven ability to accurately interpret and abstract complex clinical information from electronic and paper medical records
• Direct experience with clinical data encoding using standard ontologies including ICD-10-CM and SNOMED CT
• Experience performing data mapping, standardization, and harmonization
• Demonstrated commitment to data integrity, quality control, and HIPAA compliance
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or Google Suite, including creating pivot tables, generating reports, and data analysis
• Experience using clinical data systems or databases common in data abstraction, research, or clinical data management
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to collaborate across clinical and non-clinical teams
• Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet strict productivity and quality deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

• CCDM, CCRP, ACR-P, or CRA certification
• High level of initiative and self-motivation
• Strong attention to detail and ability to learn quickly
• Adaptability to shifting priorities and changes

Pay

The client has indicated a pay range of $35-$40 USD per hour for this position. Actual compensation will be based on your specific skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and other factors unique to your background.
