About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential open-source database technology organization in their search for a Product Manager to lead strategy and execution for an observability platform serving database administrators, SREs, platform engineers, and DevOps professionals.

This is a remote role open to candidates in Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, and Spain. Our client values rapid iteration, customer collaboration, and delivering measurable value in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Own product strategy and roadmap for an open-source database observability platform, ensuring alignment with organizational vision
• Engage directly with customers and community members to validate ideas, understand challenges, and identify product opportunities
• Conduct market research and competitive analysis to inform product direction
• Translate customer problems into clear requirements and feature priorities
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, design, documentation, marketing, and customer success teams
• Prioritize features based on customer value, engineering effort, and strategic objectives
• Define success metrics and leverage telemetry, usage data, and customer feedback to guide decisions
• Partner closely with engineering throughout the product lifecycle from discovery through release
• Represent the product through blog posts, webinars, conferences, customer meetings, and community engagement
• Drive adoption across open-source communities and enterprise organizations

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Proven track record managing technical products, particularly developer tools, infrastructure, platform, or observability solutions
• Demonstrated success shipping software products from concept to release
• Strong technical understanding of modern infrastructure, databases, cloud-native architecture, and observability technologies
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into product strategy and customer value
• Experience working cross-functionally across engineering, design, marketing, sales, and customer success
• Strong customer empathy with ability to transform customer problems into valuable products
• Comfort working in fast-paced environments, making decisions with incomplete information, and iterating based on feedback
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
• Fluent in English
• Willingness to travel occasionally for customer visits, conferences, and company events

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with observability technologies such as Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Loki, Tempo, VictoriaMetrics, or similar platforms
• Experience with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or other data platforms
• Experience with Kubernetes, Linux, cloud-native technologies, and distributed systems
• Active participation in open-source communities as a contributor or community member
• Experience building products for developers, SREs, platform engineers, DevOps engineers, or database administrators
• Experience defining AI-powered workflows, developer productivity tools, or AI-assisted observability experiences
• Background in startups or high-growth companies where rapid iteration and customer feedback drive product decisions
• Comfort taking ownership and wearing multiple hats in collaborative team environments
• Passion for open source and building products in partnership with engineering and community
